Elliot D. Lobel, one of Prince, Lobel, Glovsky & Tye's founding partners and senior litigator, has more than thirty years of experience as a litigator in federal and state courts. His trial practice includes both civil and criminal court matters, and extends to representation of clients before state and federal administrative agencies.
A former assistant United States Attorney and Middlesex County Assistant District Attorney, Elliot has a wealth of trial experience in the Massachusetts courts. At the United States Attorney’s office, his primary focus across a broad spectrum of criminal matters was the prosecution of tax and fraud cases.
In private practice, Elliot has represented principals of publicly traded corporations charged with various breaches of duty or misrepresentation. He serves as counsel to individuals involved in shareholder derivative suits and SEC investigations. In addition, he has spearheaded internal corporate investigations at the request of outside directors and has been involved in private SEC investigations. Elliot has served in a similar capacity on behalf of closely held corporations. His experience as a prosecutor informs his defense work on behalf of persons charged with tax evasion and tax fraud.
Elliot has been recognized in Woodward/White Inc.’s The Best Lawyers in America. At the request of the Supreme Judicial Court, he has served as Special Counsel to the Committee on Professional Responsibility for Clerks of Court.
Elliot has a strong passion for education. Drawing on considerable advocacy experience, Elliot has taught in various trial advocacy programs. He shares that knowledge as an instructor at the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, Tufts University, Suffolk University and other law schools. Elliot was a very involved student during his undergraduate work at Tufts. He founded and was the driving force behind the Tufts Lecture Series for three years. Elliot was an instructor for three semesters in an experimental program called The Merging of the Theater and the Courts, which was an analysis of acting and staging techniques within a courtroom setting. Elliot is still actively involved at Tufts University as a member of the Board of Overseers of the University College of Citizenship and Public Service.
